elements therapeutic massage of Whitefish Bay to Host “Massage for a Cause” For Leukemia and Lymphoma Society WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. – March 13, 2009 – elements therapeutic massage of Whitefish Bay has joined in the effort to fight against leukemia and lymphoma-related illnesses.
The studio at 312 E. Silver Spring Drive in Whitefish Bay will host “Massage for a Cause” March 22-29 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through its Team in Training program. During the weeklong event, $5 from each massage session at elements of Whitefish Bay will be contributed to the non-profit organization to help individuals battling the disease. The donated money will be given to Team in Training participants who work to raise funds for the non-profit through secured sponsorships, individual donors and hosted events. The studio is open Monday through Thursday 9am to 8 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“This is a cause that is very special to me and members of our staff,” said Aimee Matchette, owner of elements therapeutic massage of Whitefish Bay, who lost an aunt to leukemia in December. “When we learned about sponsoring Team in Training participants, our desire to help our clients feel better as well as help raise money for a good cause seemed like a perfect fit.” elements therapeutic massage got the idea when employee and certified massage therapist Kelly Gunderson, learned of a similar massage for a cause campaign in Las Vegas.
Once a massage therapy school instructor and massage therapist for Cirque du Soleil there, Gunderson was contacted by former student Cynthia De Los Reyes who had been diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera, a blood disorder where the body’s red blood cells are abnormally high, and was giving massages to raise money for her own Team in Training effort. Proceeds from Massage for a Cause in Whitefish Bay will benefit both the Milwaukee and Las Vegas chapters of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Milwaukee-area recipient will be Christi, a Shorewood High School senior, who was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May 2008. Funds raised in the Team in Training program will benefit her treatment.
“So many people are affected by leukemia and lymphoma,” said Matchette. “This is our way of making a difference. And the support of our elements staff has been tremendous in our efforts to raise funds.” Massage therapist Kristie Pfeil will be donating an additional $5 from each massage she gives during the Team in Training promotion week. And, Gunderson will be donating her time for massages on March 29, her day off, and give 100 percent of all money collected to her former student and friend De Los Reyes.

Elements Whitefish Bay is managed by Veronica Chairez. Veronica comes to us from Just Kidding where she was responsible for a ten-person staff and an inventory worth more than one million dollars. She has a very diverse set of interests and has earned a degree in Music Education from UW-Milwaukee. She’s also fluent in Spanish. Most importantly , Veronica has an infectious personality and a knack for keeping customers happy and turning infrequent customers into regulars.
Scott & Aimee joined elements in November of 2007 and bring a diverse skill set along with them. Aimee has spent most of her career in accounting and finance with a focus on retail. Her amazing energy augments her business skills and makes her the ideal front person for elements Whitefish Bay.
Scott has a background in information technology and sales and has had experience with franchising as well. He will focus most of his energies on marketing the elements franchising opportunity in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin.
Education: European Massage Therapy School and the Chicago National College of Naprapathy
Places Lived: I’ve lived most of my life in Chicago, and just spent the last two years in Las Vegas. I currently reside in Shorewood and am excited to raise my family there.
Places Traveled: In the US I have been all over from the East coast to West coast. I have been to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Madrid, Spain; Venice, Italy; Munich, Germany; and South America.
My Dream Vacation: I would love to travel all throughout South America and hit every country.
Favorite Massage Modalities: Deep tissue, myofascial, structural integration, and tui ne. I like to find the problem and fix it! I am also trained in Prenatal, oncology, fibromyalgia, sports, hot stone, geriatric, and kid massages. I can also incorporate stretching and shiatsu into my massages.

In my other life (before I found massage therapy) I was: “I’ve held quite a variety of jobs from restaurant manager, pharmacy tech, to factory worker. As a child I always wanted to be a body worker. After the factory, I went back to school and followed my dream.”

Education: I went to Sts. Cecilia & James Catholic School until high school when I attended Homestead in Mequon. I studied at UWM for a few years in psychology and then attended Blue Sky School of Massage and Therapeutic Bodywork. There I studied neuromuscular therapy, lymphatic massage, massage for cancer patients, cranial sacral and reflexology.
Places Lived: I was born and raised in Mequon until 22years old when I moved to Germantown. When I was 24 I moved to Milwaukee where I presently reside.
Places Traveled: I have been to most of the continental U.S with trips to Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Florida, Washington D.C, New York, and many other fascinating places.

Education: I graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1999. Shortly after high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. I spent my college years studying, coaching, teaching, and playing basketball and volleyball. I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Human Development, and Psychology. September of 2006 I attended Blue Sky School of Professional Massage and Therapeutic Bodywork.
Places Lived: After college in Green Bay, I moved to the Lake District in England to attend Capernwray Bible School. I now live in Cedarburg, WI.
